Barrett Paving prides itself on maintaining a properly trained force of employees. Year after year, we not only provide the mandated minimum amounts of safety training, but also afford opportunities for our employees to go above and beyond what is required.
By offering incentive-based training programs, weekly, on-site "toolbox talks" involving foremen and their crews, and timely special topic talks, Barrett Paving fosters and promotes a safe and educated workforce. As of 2009, 92% of our workforce had completed the annual safety training.
Additionally, as of 2009, 81% of Barrett employees have been trained in First Aid and CPR by certified instructors. This training is another integral part of our program as a whole, allowing most injuries to be dealt with quickly and appropriately by on site personnel.
Our company-wide dedication to cultivating a safer work environment has proved invaluable over the course of the last several years. As a company, Barrett's injuries per 100 workers rate has steadily declined as our focus on safety has increased, and we expect this trend to continue in the future.
