Laborer
Basic Job Function
Perform unskilled or semi-skilled manual labor assisting road construction and maintenance work crews.
Essential Job Function
Performing manual labor including raking blacktop, picking rock, raking, shoveling, and raising iron as part of a crew performing road construction and maintenance work. Move equipment and other large, bulky objects. Install and erect barriers, signs and other warning devices required to mark work areas and identify hazards.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Motor vehicle operator's license and ability to operate small truck.
  • Intelligence adequate to observe conditions, learn methods and follow instructions. Strength and endurance to perform manual labor under all weather conditions.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of this position and work in adverse weather conditions.
Traffic Control Flagger
Basic Job Function
Guide highway traffic at construction sites by performing unskilled work for the purpose of traffic control operations.
Essential Job Function
Controls movement of vehicular traffic through construction projects; discusses traffic routing plans and type and location of control points with superior. Distributes traffic control signs and markers along site in designated pattern. Directs movement of traffic through site, using sign, hand and flag signals. Warns construction workers when approaching vehicle fails to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers. Informs drivers of detour routes through construction sites.
Requirements
  • Previous experience a plus.
  • Proper flagger certification.
  • Ability to work on call and after hours as needed.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of this position of standing throughout workday and work in adverse weather conditions.
Equipment Operator
Basic Job Function
Responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Essential Job Function
Heavy equipment may include trucks, font-end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors and other pieces of equipment. Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Proper certification and driver's license required.
  • Able to me the demands of the physically strenuous job, lifting, pulling and managing equipment. Able to work in adverse weather conditions.
