AC STORAGE

We operate several liquid asphalt storage facilities that have the capacity to store over 166 thousand tons of liquid asphalt.  With our mixing plants we have to ability to modify the existing liquid asphalt and produce multiple grades for use in a variety of paving and emulsion products.  All of our liquid asphalt products whether modified or not are tested extensively in our own labs to assure that each product meets strict specifications and that they will perform as expected.  These storage facilities provide over 50% of our yearly needs assuring a reliable supply of raw material for our own hot mix and emulsion plants and provide the flexibility to sell to third parties.

Barrett’s subsidiary Midland Asphalt Materials Inc. operates a liquid asphalt terminal capable of storing over 42,000 tons of various grades. With our quality control lab, the liquid asphalt is extensively tested to assure that it meets stringent requirements and will perform as expected in various asphalt and emulsion mix designs.

Most of this liquid asphalt is consumed internally for use in our emulsion and asphalt plants, but limited supplies are sold externally.
